Office Evaluation and Treatment

Dr.Stanley Friedell, MD, Image For Office Evaluation And Treatment We are proud of the extent of care we offer to women from Chicago and its various communities. During an office evaluation at Northwestern Women’s Health Associates, we listen carefully to what is concerning you. After performing a consultation and examination, we are able to tailor treatment programs to suit your needs. More than anything, we are dedicated to sticking by our patients as they go through the various stages of life, handling concerns and needs as they change.
The experienced physicians at Northwestern Women’s Health Associates provide an excellent standard of care both in our office and at Northwestern Memorial / Prentice Women’s Hospital. Our services range from basic gynecological care to labor and delivery and monitoring during complicated pregnancies. Our patients benefit from our extensive knowledge and training when facing gynecological problems or life changes such as family planning, pregnancy, and menopause.
In office procedures include:

Sonohysterogram

Sonohysterogram imaging aids in the identification of uterine problems such as polyps or fibroids.

Uterine biopsy

Biopsies enable us to better examine tissue from the uterus in order to obtain an accurate diagnosis.

Colposcopy

Colposcopy is the viewing of the vulva, vagina, and / or cervix under magnification using a colposcope.

IUD

The intrauterine device, or IUD, has been used for many years as a method of pregnancy prevention. The device itself is inserted into the uterus, where it is held in place with two “arms” that open up after they have passed through the uterine opening. We offer two different types of IUD to patients from the Chicago area, and help you choose which is best suited to your needs in a comprehensive consultation.

Hysteroscopy

Hysteroscopy uses a telescopic instrument to visualize the inside of the uterus. There are several reasons why a hysteroscopy may be performed. The most common reason for this in-office procedure is to pinpoint and treat the cause of heavy or abnormal uterine bleeding. This procedure may also be performed to investigate potential causes of multiple miscarriages, to remove adhesions, to locate an IUD, or as a part of a sterilization procedure.

NovaSure Ablation

Endometrial ablation is a procedure that has been performed for several years. NovaSure ablation is a form of endometrial ablation that is designed to remove the uterine lining in women with heavy bleeding.
Sometimes, it is most appropriate to perform procedures in the hospital setting. In addition to providing labor and delivery services at Northwestern Memorial / Prentice Women’s Hospital, we may also schedule certain outpatient procedures in their state-of-the-art outpatient surgery floor.
