Most women are well enough acquainted with themselves to recognize the signs of sexual dysfunction. These include the inability to reach climax, lack of arousal and lack of libido, vaginal dryness, and pain during intercourse. Some of the symptoms point to psychological factors, such as lack of sexual desire.

To help us determine the cause of symptoms, we will discuss with the patient her concerns, providing a gentle listening ear. A medical history that includes medications that are being taken will help us rule this out as a potential cause. If medication such as an antidepressant is taken, we may work with your prescribing physician to modify the dose or devise a viable solution to the effects of your medication. Diagnostic testing may include evaluation of hormonal balance. Both estrogen and testosterone can play a role in optimal sexual function and satisfaction.
